FAQ

What is a Retail Panel?

GfK’s Retail Panel consists of over 9000 outlets of Australian and New Zealand retailers, providing weekly and monthly sales information on technical consumer goods and entertainment categories.

What happens to my sales data?

Each retailer’s sales data is cleaned, featured in GfK’s global data warehouse and checked for accuracy and completeness. Data from all our retail partners is aggregated into one "total market" measurement. Individual retailer’s data is treated with utmost confidentiality and is never made available in GfK industry reports.

What about exclusive product lines in my store? Will they be exposed in reports?

No. All exclusive or private label brands and models are suppressed in all reports.

What are the costs involved for retail partners?

There are no costs involved for GfK retail partners. You will receive detailed market reports, and access to a dedicated client service executive for adhoc queries and special anlyses. All of this is available free-of-charge in return for your sales data.

I am a small independent retailer. What if I don’t have time to go through detailed reports?

If detailed reports are not for you, we also provide management summary reports, chart packs etc. We can customize reports to suit your individual needs.

I sell other categories that are not listed in your Markets & Services page. Can I get information on those markets?

GfK is continuously looking to expand into new markets and industries. We are more than happy to discuss your needs.

How do I report my sales data to GfK?

Retail data is generally provided in electronic format and sent via e-mail or FTP.

How do I receive my reports and market information?

Reports can be e-mailed or transferred to a GfK FTP account to be downloaded by the retail partner.
