GfK TEMAX Austria - Q3 2011
No slowdown in consumer spending
Austria, November 11, 2011 In Q3 2011, there was no evidence of a slowdown in consumer spending, especially with regards to the Technical Consumer Goods (TCG) market. Both sales and turnover remained positive and between July and September, revenue increased by 3.9% when compared to last year. Smartphones, PC’s and Webbooks performed particularly well, with electrical kitchen appliances also experiencing strong trends. Also, the major domestic appliances (MDA) market returned to positive growth after a negative Q2 2011, while the photo market profited from a lively demand for DSLRs and lenses. Sales in the consumer electronics sector remained weak and failed to match the results seen in the very successful year of 2010.
