A challenging economic climate

A number of consumer confidence surveys bear out the difficult truth of the past quarter. Consumers in the UK are feeling less confident than at any time over the past couple of years and this has resulted in a slowdown in spending on consumer durable products. With weather conditions hindering some areas and product lifecycles impacting others, it has been a difficult quarter. The overall performance of -2.9% against Q3 of last year is driven to a large extent by the fall in Consumer Electronics (CE) and Telecommunication (Telco).
