Sales of Mobile Phones decreased 20% in volume terms between January to April 2009 compared to the same period last year.  The rate of decline for April in isolation was not quite as pronounced but still represented a 10% decrease compared to April 2008.  Mobile phones with cameras continue to perform well and exhibit strong growth, although April 2009 saw a setback for this product group, as the 3G segment dropped slightly in April compared to March.

Between January to April 2009, the volume of the Phone Device market grew 5% year on year. The Cordless segment surpassed half the market share in volume terms in April and exhibited the greatest performance in the first 4 months of 2009, growing by 15.8%. Although the IP Phone has a relatively small presence in terms of volume, it is growing above the market average as prices become increasingly affordable and competitive.
