03 July 2009The Flat TV market, after going through a period of sales decline at the beginning of the year, increased by 2% and 11% in March and April, respectively. In terms of resolution, sales of Full HD televisions have increased in the last 13 periods and reached one quarter of market share in April 2009. When considering the LCD market alone, the percentage of Full HD TV increases to 27%. Amongst equipment higher than 40 inches, this percentage represents almost half the market.
Compared to the same period the previous year, the CRT-TV market registered a decrease of 45% in sales units in April 2009, and a price increase of 1%. Despite this, sales of Slim Tube equipment, thinner than the traditional sets, increased by 32%. One of the factors behind this increase is that this equipment registered 14% of price erosion in the same period, in contrast to the total market. Slim Tube equipment accounted for 39% of market share in April 2009, in comparison with 16% in April 2008.
