The European self-stick notes market (comprising France, Germany, UK, Italy and Spain) was worth 140 million euro in 2009. This market is decreasing in terms of both volume (-9.5%) and value (-8.1%) compared to 2008.
Germany generated 27% of turnover in 2009 followed by France (25%) and Italy (22%). All countries registered negative evolutions in terms of units and value with the exception of Spain. The Spanish market in 2009 grew by 10.1% and 0.7% in volume and value respectively, compared to 2008.
The strong negative trend in the UK regarding the turnover is exacerbated by the evolution of the local currency.
In terms of the product mix, Blank Pads represent more than 70% of the market in France, the UK and Italy. In Germany and Spain, Blank Pads' weight is lower than that of profit of Index Cards, which represent more than 20% of the turnover in these two countries.
