GfK Retail and Technology News Special
September 2009

Dear Client, dear Reader,

GfK Retail and Technology has maintained its growth course in the first half of 2009, despite a major global financial and economic crisis which is only now showing signs of recovery. Much the same can be said for the technical consumer goods markets we track, as consumers are still set to spend 2% more on products in Audio/Video, Photo, IT and Telecommunications markets in 2009.

However, growth this year is being powered by Asian and African countries, while sales in North America and Europe are expected to decline. Our latest market reports for CE, IT, MDA, SDA, Photo and Telecom markets published ahead of IFA 2009 – the world’s largest consumer electronics trade fair – show which countries and products have been performing well and which have suffered so far this year.

Looking back at major events earlier this year, GfK experts have once again provided delegates with key market insights into several markets we track, including developments within Retail over the past decade and a European study into the Fashion market.

And last but not least our quarterly GfK TEMAX reports for over 30 countries worldwide are providing managers and decision makers with valuable market insights into technical consumer goods markets. An interview with Project Manager Michael Sauter explains more.
