As part of the launch of the European-wide Fashion Total Store Report (TSR), GfK Retail and Technology Benelux will shortly go live with this service in Belgium and the Netherlands, providing retailers and manufacturers with detailed information on the fashion retail markets.
We spoke to Filip Van Dyck, Business Development Manager for Benelux to learn more…
Live over-the-counter sales data is collected from leading textile retailers and aggregated, providing a highly accurate picture on thousands of textile product groups. The service can be easily customised to cater for individual client needs, in terms of frequency (in some instances weekly), channel view, assortment mix and even up to article type. With access to the retailer's full assortment, products can be drilled down and analysed allowing detailed information on sub-categories such as women's clothing, babywear and luxury products, amongst others. The ability to fragment in this way means that GfK will soon be able to specialise in specific fashion areas, with detailed panel information for Lingerie, Socks, Jeans, Shoes and other categories destined for launch in the near-future.
TSR aggregates sales from the full assortment of a store, which in the fashion sector means millions of articles are tracked and analysed. The unique research tool will function as the platform for understanding of performance against your competitors.
It is a proven and comprehensive sales monitor that allows retailers to monitor trends, benchmark products and services against the market, evaluate the impact of pricing, adapt ranges accordingly and develop and fine-tune your strategy.
Already the first total store data from a number of retailers is being processed, discussions with other retailers have been initiated and more meetings will follow over the upcoming weeks and months ahead of the service going officially live in both Belgium and The Netherlands in 2010. The initial focus will be twofold: firstly with the expansion of the retailer base to represent a high market coverage and secondly establishing defined "product worlds".
Continuous audits in the Fashion sector are currently active in several European countries. The announcement of the planned service in Belgium and the Netherlands marks further development of GfK's 'Fashion Life' panel, which tracks Home Textiles, Clothing and Shoes, Luggage, Leisure products, Jewellery and Fragrances.
