ECO Reporting - energy efficiency tracking

Climate change and rising energy costs have made energy efficiency a hot topic. For the industry this means competition for optimal energy efficient devices will intensify:

  • The energy costs arising from product use will lead to a shift in the nature of price competition, which up to now has exclusively been operated on a purchase price level.
  • The energy efficiency level of a device will have a higher impact on consumers' purchase decisions than in the past.
  • There will be more and stricter consumption limits defined by legislation.
  • Retailers will try to differentiate themselves positively from their competition in terms of being more eco friendly and will in turn heighten pressure on their industry partners.

In order to make the right decisions in view of these challenges, there is an urgent need for relevant, reliable and up-to-date knowledge. GfK Retail and Technology's ECO Reporting service combines energy-related figures and market facts in a meaningful and real time energy efficiency report. Market facts are based upon our representative global retail panel with detailed information to a single model level. The energy consumption relevant facts are based upon official information published by manufacturers.

  2. Special analyses on brand, channel and price class level will be subject to a dedicated report module and the following proposal:
  • Model level: Energy consumption index vs. total market total lifecycle costs incl. energy costs
  • Brand level: Energy consumption index vs. total market running report energy consumption
  • Channel level: Information on brand- and model level can
    be split by channels
  • Price classes: Information on brand- and model level can
    be split by price classes
