Graduate Recruitment Process

GfK takes recruitment and selection very seriously. While it's clearly in your interests to be treated fairly and with respect, it's also essential that we select people with the qualities essential to our continued success. When recruiting, we ensure we take an objective view and follow best practice guidelines. We also carefully adhere to Equal Opportunities legislation.

Our recruitment methodology is based on looking at capabilities - also known as competencies. These capabilities are sets of behaviours, skills and knowledge that can be determinants of job success. They're a valuable tool in ensuring consistency and accuracy in assessments and increase the reliability of the selection process.

If you are invited to attend a GfK Graduate Assessment Day, the format will involve your participation in the following:

Group Exercise:
Group exercises look at how you work with other people, in particular examining your communication and teamwork skills.

The Interview:
The interview is about you and your experiences. You will be asked for examples of how you behaved in different situations drawing on examples from work experiences, university, a club or home.

Psychometric Tests:
Psychometric tests are timed exercises that look at your ability and potential. The tests we use focus on verbal and numerical skills.

Before the day of the assessment, we will send you information about the tests you will be asked to carry out, along with advice on how to prepare. For more information, click on the website link below where you can practice tests similar to those you might be asked to take. This is the website of Saville & Holdsworth, the Occupational Psychology company whose tests we use in our assessments.

Group Presentations:
The Group Presentation is a chance to show your ability to communicate to a group of Assessors. You will be given the topic on the day and will have time to prepare.

There will be a couple of really interesting Company presentations which will enable you to learn more about GfK as follows:-

  • A Career at GfK – One of the Company’s Business Group Directors will take you through the steps involved in moving up from the Graduate role of Account Executive to Account Director.

  • What it’s Really Like to Work Here! – a former GfK Graduate will tell you all about the Account Executive Graduate role on a day to day basis.

We will look you after very well. We re-imburse 2nd class rail fares or for those travelling by car there is a mileage allowance.

There will also be plenty of refreshments along the way, plus an informal buffet lunch where you will have the opportunity to chat informally to the Assessors and former GfK Graduates.
